The Al Qaeda/Saddam connection was a very small part of the logic that got the ships out of port. Most sane people thought going into Iraq was the best option. Most sane people believe that the war has been a disaster. We're there. We're in a hell of a mess. What should we do now? Additionally, Iran is shia, Al Qaeda sunni. They've never been in league. Never will be. In fact, if we'll leave them alone, they'll likely get back to oppressing their women and killing each other off. Yeah, we were played. We were played by our own fear and dissidents like Ahmed Chalabi who exploited on our naivete and the neo-con's skewed ideas about foreign policy.
