I’m just at a loss of words at the latest gaffe by our president. There are times when he seems to be on the right track to success then he pull something out of left field that leaves you scratching your head. The Harriet Miers nomination might have been the best thing for him, but it wasn’t the best for our nation. Now, supporting the torture ban might be good for him, but in the end it isn’t the best for our nation. We need to have the ability to extract information from those who might be ready to harm our nation.

This bill puts us in the position of having to lie about torture because you know we will still continue to do it regardless of the law.

Under the emerging deal, the CIA and other civilian interrogators would be given the same legal rights as currently guaranteed members of the military who are accused of breaking interrogation guidelines, these officials added.
