Gregg Connell drops out of race…

Here is the update to the iowa governor candidate who ran a stop sign:

Shenandoah Mayor Gregg Connell on Friday ended his campaign for governor 10 days after he was involved in a fatal auto accident in western Iowa.

Soon after Connell was ticketed for running a stop sign in an accident that killed a man, he suspended his campaign.

“Although my desire and passion to lead Iowa remain strong, I must take a break from the demanding campaign schedule to spend time with my family and recover from the effects of this tragic accident,” according to a written statement issued by Connell and his family.

Connell told authorities he ran a stop sign Nov. 8 before broadsiding 51-year-old David Juhl’s car, the Pottawattamie County sheriff said.

The accident occurred in the afternoon at the intersection of a county road and Iowa Highway 92 in the southeast part of the county. Authorities said there was no evidence of alcohol being involved.
